Intricate Lava
The rich colors of Big Island lava flows inspired this painting looking south from "Old Airport" beach park. The artist remembers coming and going from that airport on propeller planes back in the 50s and 60s. Now its a great place to gather and enjoy the rocky coastline. The runway is just out of site to the left. A Kolea or Pacific Golden Plover explores the crevice in the lava looking for bugs.
